Do SilverStone have the smallest EATX chassis?
by Ivan
A lot of interest was generated after our news post yesterday detailing a new Cubitek chassis, which they were claiming was the ‘smallest area possible’ for an EATX PC build.
The new Magic Cube AIO is an attractive little case which measures 9.61” x 19.36” x 18.78” (W x H x D) and is crafted from aluminum.
The Magic Cube AIO doesn’t waste space, but offers mounting points for one 3.5” HDD and one 2.5” SSD to be placed on top of the 5.25” optical drive cage, while another 3.5” HDD fits below the same 5.25” optical drive cage which is located at the bottom of the chassis. Three more 3.5” HDDs and one more 2.5” SSD can be easily installed behind the motherboard tray.
I was chatting with Tony Ou from SilverStone and he seemed somewhat perplexed after he noticed this news story. He said “I was a little surprised to GD08 HTPC cases last June in Computex and they are both around 40% smaller than the Magic Cube, with support for an EATX motherboard.”
When I asked him if SilverStone had the smallest EATX chassis, he answered modestly “I honestly don’t know, we had released a HTPC case in 2005 called the Lascala LC13 that is slightly smaller than GD07 and GD08. I am not making the claim that we have the smallest EATX supporting chassis design, but I am proud of our designs and wish more people could know about them. We feel they offer great build quality and a broad feature set for the enthusiast user.”
